Meditation is one of my favourite things to do to calm the mind and still the emotions, I encourage and teach simple meditation techniques that calm the mind and emotions quickly, help reduce stress and encourage deep restful sleep.
I have personally used meditation for many years for myself and in my therapies, I have taught it to many people including children and I am never surprised by the results, its simple and easy to do and it can be done anywhere, you don’t have to be in a retreat or practice yoga to enjoy all the benefits meditation can bring to your mental and physiological self.
Meditation is a very practical and useful tool that can be used by anyone to benefit everyday living, it’s not just for spiritual guru’s who sit crossed legged for hours on end, that’s the perception many people have about people who meditate but it’s far from the truth, more and more meditation is being used in schools to help children relax and increase focus and attention, it’s also used by lots of big major companies in the workplace to ease stress and increase production and to reduce absenteeism.
using meditation is becoming more and more popular it’s even encouraged by some sections of the NHS, it’s benefits are many and there are no residual side effects, when you focus your attention your mind becomes still followed by your emotions and finally your body even a short amount of time spent in meditation is extremely beneficial is stills the mind relaxes the body and calms the emotions giving you space to think clearer and make better choices and decisions.
Meditation has many proven health benefits, encouraged by the NHS for its physical and physiological benefits it can help with breathing with stress and anxiety with sleep and concentration it also promotes emotional health and enhances self awareness, its reputed to lengthen attention span and can help with age related memory loss, it increases mental clarity and focus and triggers the brains relaxation response. And meditation is becoming more acceptable and more wide spread in its use to combat stress and anxiety.
You can spend only 5 minutes or you can spend 30 minutes in meditation it’s about whatever you can fit into your life, but however long you manage to spend in meditation it will bring positive benefits and results, if you aim for 2 or 3 times a week even for just 5 minutes the changes it will make to your mental and emotional health will be so worth it.
